ABOUT ME
My name is Stanley Do and I’ve been playing the piano for over 20 years. I was born into a family of musicians— my father was a professional violinist, my brother is also a professional violinist. Even though I never tried to become a professional myself, music has always been a huge part of my life. I began studying piano at age 7 and after 11 years of classical training, I continued to self-study to pursue my passion for romantic era classical music.
My music and teaching journey is unique. I graduated from Otis College of Art with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts. I moved to New York City and worked there for 10 years in fast-paced, stressful environments. During that time, piano became my only refuge. I experienced firsthand how profoundly healing music can be. It was my outlet for stress, creativity, expression, and emotion. It allowed me to communicate so much more than words ever could. I realized that music gave me the most fulfillment in life, so I refocused my time and energy towards teaching and sharing the gift of music with others.
I returned to the Bay Area, California where I began teaching at a music studio that specialized in working with students with disabilities. The owner of the studio, Selena Pistoresi, is an expert in that field. She has authored courses and piano method books geared towards students with disabilities. She took me under her wing and equipped me with the knowledge, tools, and perspective to teach a population that is highly under-served. I have 6 years of experience teaching students with autism, ADHD, and Rett syndrome, as well as neurotypical students of all ages. The music studio has since closed its doors, so I decided to open my own private studio with a roster of 25+ students servicing the San Jose, Santa Clara, Cupertino, Campbell, Fremont, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Los Altos, and Palo Alto areas.
